Lakeshore Elecrical Chamber

Toronto Ontario's 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission infrastructure along Lakeshore Blvd was identified by Hydro One for need of refurbishment. These cables were originally installed in the late 1950's and were nearing the end of their 50-60 year life-span.

Anchor Concrete supplied 14 custom made electrical manhole chambers for the Lakeshore Infrastructure Renewal Project. The riser and monobase were delivered pre-assembled to the jobsite in order to minimize traffic delays and lane closures on Lakeshore Boulevard, a four-lane arterial road that runs along most of the waterfront in the City of Toronto. These chambers are being used as concrete duct banks for the new 230kV electrical cables and are designed to be grouted once installed to provide a watertight solution, eliminating the previous problems surrounding water infiltration into the cable ducts due to their proximity to Lake Ontario.
