We are currently seeking a welder to join our production team and support the continued success of our operations.

Job Overview

The welder is responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication of reinforcing steel products used in our precast concrete structures. This hands-on role involves cutting, bending, tying, and assembling steel components into preassembled shapes such as cages and caissons, based on technical drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will be experienced in welding and steel fabrication, confident operating heavy equipment and power tools, and committed to upholding Anchor’s high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Ensures quality fabrication of precast in a timely and efficient manner by:

  • Welding, cutting, bending, and assembling steel reinforcement products
  • Safely operating equipment (overhead crane, forklift, shear, bender, etc.)
  • Conducting routine operating and safety checks on equipment and tools and reporting any malfunctions or wear to maintenance or management
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications
  • Identifying potential fabrication issues and communicating proactively with the team
  • Operating common shop tools including grinders, sanders, and hydraulic straightening equipment
  • Maintaining dimensional tolerances and welding quality in accordance with project requirements
  • Fitting and assembling mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components as required

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in SMAW and GMAW welding techniques
  • Strong understanding of welding safety procedures and quality standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols
  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or in a team
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with physical demands (lifting, standing, etc.)
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid certification in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Experience in fitting, welding, and steel fabrication
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience in plant production, blueprint reading, and overhead crane operation
  • Background in in-plant maintenance and equipment repairs is an asset
