    Purpose of Position:

    • To carry on architectural drafting and design planning in compliance with specified work orders and the Ontario Building Code
    • To support projects and designs in drafting services and computer aided design (“CAD”) for all of Anchor’s construction work
    • To review and implement current designs, plans, and product trends, using a continuous improvement module
    • To ensure engineering drawings include grading and servicing plans
    • To develop high quality marking graphics including realistic architectural renderings and short video animations
    • To improve the quality of items Anchor uses

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Construct high quality architectural and display models and 3-D virtual models of architectural designs for the purpose of marketing
    • Construct video graphics showing installation of products for marketing
    • Create “stock” plan renderings for internal design and marketing
    • Create working drawings for all stages of project delivery, including client approval, coordination with consultants and engineers, tender submission, permit approval, construction, and “as built” (post construction)
    • Develop design details
    • Prepare presentation drawings
    • Create full sets of working drawings which comply with the Ontario Building Code and municipal bylaws
    • Create, maintain and continuously improve designs, plan layouts, and structural design, which:
      • comply with the Ontario Building Code and municipal bylaws
      • are consistent with current trends and customer demand
      • promote construction efficiency
    • Supervise construction projects and co-ordinate, monitor, and inspect construction work
    • Determine costs and needed materials from conceptual drawings and instructions
    • Assign materials list to CAD drawings
    • Develop construction contract documents for projects of varying scope, from schematic design through to construction administration, with minimal supervision
    • Analyze the Ontario Building Code, municipal bylaws, and other documents and reports to which the project is subject
    • Coordinate documents with other disciplines, analyzing potential risks and conflicts
    • Administer contracts, including municipal approvals, shop drawing reviews, RFI’s, site visits, field observations, reporting, etc.
    • Liaise with customers, project managers, lead designers and engineers
    • Perform site inspections to ensure the project conforms with construction drawings, the Ontario Building Code, and municipal zoning requirements
    • Meets with sales agents, customers and prospective customers to customize plans and designs

    Education:

    • Diploma in design, drafting, architecture, or related field
    • Building Code Identification Number is an asset

    Experience (Minimum):

    • Two years’ relevant work experience
    • Experience creating drawings for industrial, commercial, institutional and residential projects
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Interpersonal, organizational, project management skills
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Able to work individually without supervision
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills while working under pressure
    • Computer skills
    • Residential construction knowledge is an asset
